The Art of the Etruscans – Saturday 18 December

Saturday, 18 December 2021
9am GMT
10am CET
8pm AEDT
10pm NZDT

With Dr. Eireann Marshall

Etruscans invested much of the vast wealth they accrued on art and architecture, both importing vast amounts of pottery from Corinth and then Athens, as well as creating art of their own, including their own pottery, as well as wonderful terracotta statuary and sarcophagi. They are, perhaps, best known for their craftsmanship in bronze, which is hardly surprising given their metal bearing hills. Their intricate bronze mirrors were exported throughout the Mediterranean, while their stunning bronze statues, including the Orator and the Mars of Todi, as well as the famous Chimera, are among the finest works from antiquity.

A recording will be available if you miss the live event.
