The virtual tours are set on a backdrop of high quality videos and photos in high definition that provide a fully immersive experience, allowing to see art and artworks in the finest detail.

Our virtual tours cover a wide array of historical and art-history topics, ranging from antiquity to the early modern period. We explore a variety of historical topics, from the every day life in ancient and early modern cities to representations of power. Exploring both world famous sites and those unknown to most, these lectures will bring history and the history of art to life through tailor made HD filming, as well as perceptive lecturing and lively discussions.

The virtual tours last 60 minutes followed by another 30 minutes of Q&A with our lecturers who will be delighted to answer any of your questions. Small groups with maximum 15 participants to ensure maximum interaction.

You can interact during the Q&A session by turning on your webcam and microphone and asking any questions you might have directly to the lecturer. We would love to see your face and hear your voice, but if you prefer you can also post your questions through the chat window which will be available throughout the lecture.

We cover a wide range of periods and styles, examining in great detail and with enthusiasm the highlights of Italian art, from Roman antiquities to the Italian Renaissance, from the hidden treasures of Italian mediaeval towns to the splendours of Baroque art.

Lectures last between 45 and 60 minutes followed by another 30 minutes of Q&A with our lecturers who will be delighted to answer any of your questions. Small groups with maximum 15 participants to ensure maximum interaction.

Dr. Eireann Marshall

Eireann Marshall is a Research Associate and Associate Lecturer with the Open University. She has published a number of articles on Ancient North Africa, and co-edited volumes on 'Death and Disease in the Ancient City' and ‘Women’s influence on Classical Civilisation’.

Eireann has led many tours for specialist tour operators, to Italy and North Africa.

In 2019 she was awarded Wanderlust Magazine's Top History & Culture Guide at its World Guide Awards.

Prof. Gregory Dowling

Prof Gregory Dowling is Associate Professor of American Literature at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.

He has written numerous articles on Venice, and was responsible for the sightseeing pages of the first five editions of the Time Out Guide to Venice. He currently also sits on the board of directors for a new museum in Ravenna devoted to Lord Byron, which will open in 2021.

He is also the author of the "Alvise Marangon" historical thriller novels set in Venice and a regular lecturer at the “Circolo Italo-Britannico” in Venice.

 

Dr Simon Elliott

Dr Simon Elliott is an award winning and best selling archaeologist, historian and broadcaster.

He is an Honorary Research fellow at the University of Kent, Trustee of the Council for British archaeology, President of the Society of Ancients, an Ambassador for Museum of London Archaeology and a Guide Lecturer for Andante Travels.

Dr Elliott has published numerous books on themes related to the ancient world.
